Chicago – The Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club today announced its endorsement of Dilara Sayeed for Illinois’ 5th State House District.
“On behalf of Sierra Club Illinois Chapter’s 100,000 members and supporters, I am proud to announce our endorsement of Dilara Sayeed for State House in the 5th District,” said Sierra Club Illinois Chapter Deputy Director Kady McFadden. “Dilara knows that leadership from Illinois in protecting our environment is critical for the future we provide for our children and the health of our economy. As a eighth grade public school teacher, Dilara ran award winning environmental advocacy student programming that was reproduced and spread across the district. As a State Representative, she’ll fight for their future, protect the health, air, and water for all Illinois families, and build a 100% clean energy future that creates good jobs for those who need them most.”
“I am honored and excited to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club, said Dilara Sayeed, candidate for Illinois’ 5th State House District. “I can no longer watch from the sidelines as the Trump and Rauner Administrations continue to threaten our values. Budget cuts, deregulation, and disinvestment are hallmarks of both administrations and their anti-environmental policies are no exception. Today, more than ever in our lifetime, there is an unique urgency to this work. I am committed to partnering with Sierra Club and other leaders to serve our state and country by protecting our American values and our environment – our lands, water, and air – for the health of ourselves and our future generations.”
